(b. 1961. Quirindi, NSW, Australia)
In late 2015, Catherine O’Donnell joined the Gallery as a represented artist after graduating with a Masters of Fine Arts from the National Art School in 2014. Last year began with O’Donnell’s exhibition A Notion of Home on view at the Murray Art Museum Albury, and 2016 also saw her artworks at Newcastle Art Gallery and Bathurst Regional Art Gallery for Just Draw, Hawkesbury Regional Gallery in Windsor, Fairfield City Museum and Gallery and at the Art Gallery of New South Wales as one of six artists selected for the second edition of the Dobell Australian Drawing Biennale. In 2017 Catherine O’Donnell will complete the Terrence and Lynette Fern Cité Internationale des Arts Residency Fellowship, where she will study the architecture of Le Corbusier’s social housing projects. O’Donnell grew up in an estate building in Sydney’s western suburbs, which has informed and influenced many of her works. This year she has already undergone a residency with Bundanon Trust to develop new work and has drawings touring around regional locations in the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award.
