On my family farm near Orange NSW, I sculpt abstract forms from stone. I feel a motivation to reveal movement and fluidity in the stones I choose. I experience great satisfaction in the tactile quality of smooth stone and love to see people compelled to touch my work; to me, this is the greatest compliment.
My style is an evolution of the influences I absorbed while growing up in an artistic and architectural family. After focusing on fabricated stainless steel objects while studying Jewellery and Object Design at Enmore Design Centre, I followed a curiosity to explore the reductive process of stone carving. The transition from stainless steel to stone has allowed me to expand my style to include more complex curves, lines, and organic shapes.
Clemente Meadmore and Keizo Ushio, among others, have inspired my appreciation of form. The professional sculptors with whom I have worked in Australia, Canada and the United States have encouraged my confidence and the further development of my technical skills.
