Emigrating to Australia as a child in 1999, Loribelle now lives and practices in Sydney. Her Filipino and Yugoslavian background is reflected in the diversity of her paintings, from her Surrealist interiors, to minimalist figurations and highly rendered portraiture. Her infatuation with the human form and psyche is apparent across her various bodies of work, as Loribelle represents the energy of her sitters and her own disquiet. Her use of line embodies a fluidity of movement while the negative space gives a moment of pause, creating dreamscapes that are often familiar and yet strange.
