Here we have invited Megan Fizell of Feasting on Art ( to an interview, revealing the influence of food on art and the power that is potentially hidden in a can of tomato soup.

Megan has been researching artists using sugar for the upcoming exhibition, 'Sugar, Sugar', built on the ideas explored by the 'Art + Food' artists using edible materials. The featured art pieces are made exclusively with sugar. As a species, we are predisposed to seek out sugar to supplement our diet. "Sweet tooth" and "sugar rush" are colloquial phrases used to describe our bodies' cravings for and reaction to the substance. Our inclination to seek out the sweet stuff speaks to the pervasiveness of sugar in the visual arts.
